Product description

Keep your connected e-bike or e-scooter online for up to 8 years — without a monthly SIM bill.

A long-validity 4G data SIM for e-bikes and e-scooters that accept a user-supplied physical SIM, plus compatible aftermarket GPS trackers, anti-theft devices and telematics modules fitted to them. One payment up front. No monthly SIM fees. No recharge cycles.

  • Pay once, use for 1, 3, 5 or 8 years — no monthly fees, no auto-renewals
  • For BYO-SIM devices — bikes, scooters or add-on trackers with a physical SIM slot you fill yourself
  • Triple-cut SIM — Standard, Micro and Nano — no separate adapter
  • Multi-network (Telstra + Optus 4G) — access to both networks; selection may vary by coverage and device behaviour
  • Data-only — built for devices that communicate over mobile data
  • Long validity — no recharge deadlines to manage while the bike sits in storage

Quick answer: a SIM card for an e-bike or e-scooter works only when the vehicle — or a device fitted to it — accepts a user-supplied physical SIM. This SIM provides 4G mobile data (Telstra + Optus, Australia) to a compatible built-in module or an aftermarket GPS, anti-theft or telematics device, on a one-time payment lasting 1 to 8 years.

Will it work with my device?

An e-bike or scooter being “smart” or app-enabled does not mean it accepts your SIM. Check this first:

✅ Suitable if the bike, scooter or fitted device is:

  • 4G LTE, with a physical SIM slot (Standard, Micro or Nano)
  • designed to accept a user-supplied (BYO) SIM
  • able to run on a data-only service
  • using no more than 1GB of mobile data per month

❌ May not be suitable if it:

  • has no physical SIM slot (Bluetooth-only), or a non-removable / embedded eSIM
  • is locked to a manufacturer subscription or proprietary carrier
  • mentions restrictions on roaming or multi-network SIMs in its documentation — some built-in e-bike systems do; check yours or ask us before ordering
  • relies on voice calls or SMS for ongoing operation
  • is 2G or 3G only, or LTE-M-only / NB-IoT-only

Where this SIM can be used

Aftermarket 4G trackers and modules

Your bike doesn’t need built-in cellular. Many riders fit a 4G GPS tracker, anti-theft device or telematics module for theft recovery. If the add-on accepts a physical BYO SIM, supports 4G LTE and communicates over mobile data, this SIM may be suitable. Compatibility depends on the fitted device, not the bike itself.

Built-in BYO-SIM systems

Some e-bike systems include cellular-capable hardware and support a user-installed physical SIM. If your exact system accepts a BYO SIM, a compatible 4G data SIM can provide the mobile connection used by manufacturer-supported remote or cloud features. Available features and SIM requirements vary by bike system, control-module model and configuration — check the manufacturer’s documentation before ordering, or ask us with your exact model and we’ll help you check.

Why pay-once, multi-year connectivity

A tracker or module can stay installed inside a bike for years — a different job from a phone SIM. Consumer prepaid services depend on recharge and service-expiry rules designed for phone users, not unattended devices: miss a required recharge or validity deadline and the device can eventually lose service, with the SIM hidden inside a frame you’d rather not open. This SIM replaces that recurring management with a single upfront validity of 1, 3, 5 or 8 years — no renewal dates to track, no subscription. When comparing options, weigh total cost across the life of the bike, not the monthly headline.

Choose your plan

Pick the data allowance by how often your device reports, not the bike’s price or motor size:

Plan Typical fit
100MB Low-frequency or parked/stored monitoring; lightly used anti-theft trackers
200MB Regular location updates and routine app/cloud communication — a common starting point
500MB Frequent reporting and more active daily use
1GB High-frequency tracking or richer data upload (product ceiling)

This is guidance, not a measured average — check your device’s own data estimate where possible, or send us the model.

Validity

Choose 1, 3, 5 or 8 years. Validity begins the day the SIM first connects — not at purchase or shipping — so you can buy ahead and store it until the bike arrives or the tracker is fitted. Plans are extendable; contact support before expiry.

What’s included

  • 1 × 4G LTE data SIM card
  • 1 × SIM ejector pin
  • Triple-cut SIM — fits Standard, Micro and Nano slots, no separate adapter
  • Setup instructions
  • Free shipping Australia-wide

How it works

  1. Check compatibility — the checklist above, or ask us with your model.
  2. Choose your plan — data (100MB–1GB) × validity (1/3/5/8 years).
  3. We ship from Melbourne — free Australia-wide delivery.
  4. Insert the SIM into the device’s physical slot.
  5. Configure if required — many devices connect automatically. If your device asks for manual settings, the APN for this Lemon Mobile SIM is mobile (username and password blank).
  6. Allow 1–2 minutes for first network registration.

Network access in Australia

This SIM has access to both Telstra and Optus 4G rather than being tied to one carrier’s footprint. Network selection may vary by coverage and device behaviour. Beyond terrestrial mobile coverage — deep outback, remote wilderness, off-grid — a cellular SIM cannot connect; satellite-based tracking may be required for truly remote use.

Important compatibility notes

⚠️ Data-only — no voice or SMS. If an aftermarket tracker needs SMS only for first-time setup, configure it with a regular SIM first, then swap this one in. If it needs SMS for normal operation, this SIM isn’t suitable.

⚠️ 4G LTE required. Australia’s 3G networks have closed — TPG/Vodafone in January 2024, Telstra and Optus by November 2024. A 2G/3G-only device can’t be revived by any SIM.

⚠️ Embedded or locked systems are excluded. If the SIM is permanently embedded, activation is manufacturer-controlled, or connectivity is bundled into a mandatory subscription, this product doesn’t apply.

⚠️ Some built-in systems have SIM restrictions. A small number of e-bike ecosystems mention limits on roaming or multi-network SIMs in their documentation. If your bike’s manual mentions SIM or roaming requirements, check with the manufacturer or with us before ordering.

⚠️ Imported hardware — check LTE bands. “4G” on the box isn’t always enough; confirm the device supports the LTE bands used by Australian networks where it will operate. The SIM can’t change the radio bands the hardware supports.

Need help connecting? The APN for this SIM is mobile (username/password blank). For full step-by-step troubleshooting, see our e-bike & e-scooter connectivity guide — or contact us and we’ll work through it with you.

FAQ

Will this SIM work with every e-bike or e-scooter?

No. It suits devices that are 4G LTE, have a physical SIM slot, accept a BYO SIM, and run on mobile data. Many e-bikes and consumer e-scooters do not accept a user-supplied physical SIM — they use Bluetooth, embedded connectivity or a proprietary service instead — and some built-in systems mention SIM restrictions in their documentation. Contact us with the model if unsure.

My e-bike has a SIM slot but came with no SIM — is that normal?

It can be. Some e-bike systems include cellular-capable hardware and allow the owner to install a physical SIM. Check the exact bike and control-module documentation before ordering — supported SIM types, activation steps and available connected features vary by system.

My bike or scooter has no SIM slot — can I still use this?

Only by fitting a compatible add-on: a 4G GPS tracker, anti-theft device or telematics module that accepts a physical BYO SIM and uses mobile data. The add-on determines compatibility.

Does the SIM provide GPS tracking or anti-theft by itself?

No. Those come from the connected hardware and its app. The SIM only carries the mobile data.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. One payment for your chosen data allowance and validity period — no monthly fees, no recharges, no auto-renewals. When validity ends, renew by placing a new order with your SIM details, or contact support before expiry.

What APN does this SIM use?

The APN for this Lemon Mobile SIM is mobile (lowercase), username and password blank. Many devices configure automatically; enter the APN manually only if your device asks for it.

Before you order — the 5-point check

  1. Is the connected device 4G LTE?
  2. Does it have a physical SIM slot?
  3. Does it allow a BYO SIM?
  4. Can it run data-only (no SMS or voice needed for normal use)?
  5. Does it use no more than 1GB per month?

All five yes → you’ve passed the main compatibility checks. If the device has any model-specific SIM requirements, confirm those before ordering — or contact us with the exact brand and model and we’ll check for you.
