A camera SIM is a data-only SIM used by compatible cellular trail cameras and 4G security cameras to send images, motion clips, app data and remote-view traffic over a mobile network.
Photo-based trail cameras generally require less data than cameras that upload video clips or support remote live viewing.
As a starting point, choose 500MB for low-activity photo transmission, 1GB for more frequent photo uploads, or 2GB for motion-triggered clips and limited remote viewing.
Which plan does your camera need?
| Plan | Best for |
|---|---|
| Pro - 500MB/month | Low-activity photo transmission — thumbnail or standard photo uploads |
| Ultra - 1GB/month | More frequent photo uploads or very light motion-clip use |
| Prime - 2GB/month | Motion-triggered clips, higher activity or occasional remote viewing |
Actual usage depends on your camera's transmitted file sizes, trigger frequency and how often you view it remotely. Our data guide shows how to estimate your own camera's monthly use — read How Much Data Does a Trail Camera or 4G Security Camera Use? before you choose.
Why a multi-year SIM suits remotely deployed cameras
Trail and security cameras are often installed at locations that are difficult or inconvenient to revisit. A pay-once multi-year plan removes the need to manage a monthly subscription or repeated recharges during the selected service period.
Will this SIM work with my camera?
There are two separate checks: whether the camera can use the SIM, and whether its data use fits the available plans.
Technical compatibility
Your camera may be compatible if it:
- Has 4G/LTE hardware supporting relevant Australian network bands — Australia's 2G and 3G public mobile networks are closed, so a 2G- or 3G-only camera cannot connect
- Accepts a removable physical Standard, Micro or Nano SIM
- Can use a third-party data-only SIM
- Does not rely on a built-in eSIM or a carrier- or manufacturer-locked connectivity service
Plan suitability
The 500MB, 1GB and 2GB plans are intended for cameras that transmit photos, motion-triggered clips and limited remote-view traffic. They are not suitable for continuous cellular video uploads or streaming, frequent high-bitrate remote viewing, or cameras regularly using more than 2GB per allowance period.

Network access and installation location
This service includes access to Telstra and Optus 4G. A connection to either network at a particular location is not guaranteed. Availability depends on local network coverage, the camera's supported frequency bands, device settings and installation conditions.
Before ordering, check coverage at the exact camera location using the official Telstra and Optus coverage maps. Terrain, dense vegetation, buildings, metal enclosures and antenna placement can affect signal even where a coverage map shows service nearby.
No cellular SIM will work at a location without usable mobile network coverage. For locations beyond any cellular range, satellite may be required.
Important things to know before ordering
⚠️ Data-only. This SIM does not support voice calls or standard SMS. If the camera requires SMS commands or an initial network-registration step that cannot be completed with a data-only SIM, you may need to complete first-time setup using a regular mobile SIM, then replace it with the Lemon Mobile SIM.
⚠️ Validity starts when you insert the SIM, not when you order. Your plan duration begins the day the SIM first connects to the network — not the day of purchase or shipping. Buy now and store the SIM until deployment. Plans are extendable — contact support before expiry to renew.
⚠️ Not for continuous streaming. This SIM suits motion-triggered cameras sending photos and clips. Cameras continuously uploading or streaming video over the mobile network will exceed the available allowances quickly.
FAQ
Will this SIM work with my specific camera?
This SIM may work with 4G/LTE cellular cameras that accept a third-party physical data SIM and support relevant Australian network bands. Some cameras are locked to a manufacturer service even when they contain a physical SIM slot. Send us the exact model and we can review the available specifications before you order.
How much data does a trail camera use per month?
It depends on transmitted file size and upload count. Photo-based trail cameras can sometimes remain below 500MB per month, while frequent full-resolution images or video clips can push usage above 1GB. See our data usage guide to estimate your own camera's use.
How much data does a 4G security camera use?
A 1GB or 2GB allowance may suit some single-lens motion-triggered cameras when footage is recorded locally and remote viewing is limited. Higher-bitrate, multi-lens or frequently viewed cameras may require substantially more and may not suit this plan range.
What happens if my camera uses its full monthly allowance?
Mobile data access pauses until the next allowance period begins. No excess data charge applies — you are never billed extra. If your camera regularly reaches its allowance, contact support to discuss the available options.
Is there a monthly fee or recurring charge?
No. You pay once for the selected service period. There is no monthly subscription, automatic renewal, ongoing monthly contract or excess data charge.
What APN settings does my camera need?
APN: mobile (lowercase, no spaces). Username and password are blank for most cameras. Refer to your camera's manual for how to enter APN settings if manual configuration is required.
Which mobile network does this SIM use — Telstra or Optus?
This service includes access to Telstra and Optus 4G. Actual availability varies by location, device compatibility and network conditions, and access to a particular network is not guaranteed at every installation site.
What happens when the validity period ends?
The SIM stops working and the camera's data service ends. To renew, place a new order for your desired plan and leave a checkout note with your SIM ID and renewal request — or contact support directly before the expiry date.
Where does the SIM card ship from?
Our SIM cards ship from Melbourne, Australia. Free shipping nationwide on all orders.
